EVANS SCORES GAME WINNER AS LADY CHARGERS SOCCER DEFEAT GEORGIAN COURT UNIVERSITY

Lakewood, NJ (9/13/08) Freshman Christina Evans (Mahopac, NY) netted her second game winning goal of the season as the visiting Lady Chargers of Dominican College defeated the Lions of Georgian Court University, 1-0 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action.

Lakewood, NJ (9/13/08)  Freshman Christina Evans (Mahopac, NY) netted her second game winning goal of the season as the visiting Lady Chargers of Dominican College defeated the Lions of Georgian Court University, 1-0 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action at Investor Savings Bank Field.

The lone goal game at 14:57 as GCU goalkeeper Lindsay Hammond (Brunswick, ME) attempted to clear the ball and had it ricochet off Evans who was charging the play. The ball got behind Hammond and proceeded to slowly role about 15-20 yards into the goal.

The Lions had a 23-11 advantage in shots and an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks but were unable to find the net.

Lady Charger keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) had 12 saves in the shut out, while Lion keeper Hammond tallied seven saves.

With the win Dominican improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, while Georgian Court falls to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to New York Institute of Technology for a non-conference game slated to begin at 4:00 pm.
