Orangeburg, NY (10/15/08) The Nyack College Warriors rallied from a 1-0 first half deficit to defeat host Dominican College, 2-1 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action at the DC Soccer Field.
Orangeburg, NY (10/15/08) The Nyack College Warriors rallied from a 1-0 first half deficit to defeat host Dominican College, 2-1 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action at the DC Soccer Field.
Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute as freshman Tara Mancini (Cornwall, NY) picked up her first collegiate goal of the corner cross by junior Rosa Centurion (Mamaroneck, NY).
The Warriors tied the game in the 72nd minute as freshman forward Susanna Bicknell (Sandown, NH) netted the unassisted goal on a direct kick.
The game winning goal came at the foot of sophomore Alisha Smith (Irvine, CA) as the previous shot was blocked by the DC keeper and ricocheted right to Smith who put it over the keeper for the 2-1 victory in the 88th minute of action.
The Warriors had the offensive advantage, outshooting DC 15-8.
Warrior keeper Whitney Shutt (Point Pleasant, NJ) had two saves in the win.
Lady Charger keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) had nine saves in the loss.
With the win Nyack improves to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the CACC, while Dominican falls to 4-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Wilmington University for a 12pm game.
