LADY CHARGERS SOCCER TURNS BACK BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

Orangeburg,NY (10/21/08) The visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers soccer team turned back the Bloomfield College Deacons, 1-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action this afternoon.

Orangeburg, NY (10/21/08)  The visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers soccer team turned back the Bloomfield College Deacons, 1-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action this afternoon.

Though both teams played a scoreless first half, Dominican controlled the offensive end, outshooting Bloomfield 9-2.

The Lady Chargers struck for a goal in the 75th minute as sophomore Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) received the cross pass from inside the goal box by senior Katrina VanAlstyne (Cairo, NY) to put it past the Deacon keeper for the game winning goal.

For the game DC outshot BC, 14-4 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Lady Charger keeper Rosa Centurion (Mamaroneck, NY) had four saves in the shutout victory.

With the win Dominican improves to 5-10-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Mansfield University in a non-conference game.  Game time is 1:30 pm.
