GEORGIAN COURT UNIVERSITY DEFEATS WOMEN'S SOCCER IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
Orangeburg, NY (9/27/09) Sophomore Kelly Lyons (Jackson, NJ) netted the game winning goal in the 102nd minute of play to lift the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University to a 2-1 victory this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action from the DC Soccer Field.

Dominican took a 1-0 lead at 13:54 when freshman forward Jamilyn Snyder (Lacey, NJ) got the free ball of the GCU throw in and netted a goal off a shot from the 18 yard line.
The Lions knotted the game at 1-1 in the 28th minute of action as Shealyn Sullivan (Buffalo, NY) scored a goal off the assist by sophomore Candace Seaton (Bellport, NY).
In the second overtime period, Lyons was able to put it past the DC goalie off the dish from Sullivan at the 102:55 mark for the 2-1 victory.
DC goalie Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) had four saves in the loss.
GCU outshot the Lady Chargers 14-10 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
With the victory the Lions improve to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the CACC, while Dominican falls to 4-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Bloomfield College. Game time is 3pm.
