Dominican took a 1-0 lead at the 23:04 mark as freshman midfielder Danielle Romano (Plainview, NY) tallied her first collegiate goal on a shot from the 18 yard line off the assist from sophomore Jodi Curtis (Palmerston, New Zealand).
New Haven tied the game just 22 seconds into the second half as senior midfielder Meabh De Burca (County Galway, Ireland) stole the ball from the Lady Charger defense and fired a shot from the 20 yard line to make the score 1-1.
The game winner game in the 82nd minute of action as sophomore Rachel Romanowski (Lacey Township, NJ) got the ball of a deflected shot and netted her first goal of the season and the game-winner for DC.
New Haven goalie Kim Taylor (Patchogue, NY) had four saves in the loss.
Dominican goalie Kari Spicer (Littleton, CO) made 12 saves in her collegiate debut.
New Haven outshot Dominican 20-8 and had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks for the game.
With the victory Dominican improves to 1-0 on the season, while New Haven falls to 0-1.
DC is back in action on Thursday, September 9th when they host Mercy College in a non-conference game to be held at 3:30 pm at the DC Soccer Field.
