Orangeburg, NY (9/9/10) The Dominican College women's soccer team netted two goals in the first half to lead them past the visiting Mavericks of Mercy College, 2-0, this afternoon in a non-conference game held on the DC Soccer Field.
Freshman forward Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, NY) recorded her first two collegiate goals to account for the Lady Charger scoring. Her first goal came in the 20th minute on a shot from inside the 18 yard line off the pass from senior Sierra Kader (Bethany, CT). She tallied her second goal at 37:54 on a shot from inside the five yard line off the assist from senior Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) for the eventual 2-0 Dominican victory.
The Lady Chargers outshot the Mavericks, 12-7.
Freshman keeper Kari Spicer (Littleton, CO) made four saves in the victory.
Maverick goalie Stephanie DiLegge (Bay Shore, NY) had four saves also.
With the victory Dominican improves to 2-0 on the season, while Mercy falls to 1-2.
DC is back in action on Saturday when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a home game against Goldey-Beacom College. Game time is set for 12pm on the DC Soccer Field.
