PORTER AND SNYDER RECORD HAT TRICKS AS WOMEN'S SOCCER DOMINATE BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (10/4/10) Senior Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) and sophomore Jamilyn Snyder (Lacey, NJ) each recorded hat tricks as the Dominican College women's soccer team defeated the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College, 7-2, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on the DC Soccer Field.
Orangeburg, NY (10/4/10) Senior Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) and sophomore Jamilyn Snyder (Lacey, NJ) each recorded hat tricks as the Dominican College women's soccer team defeated the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College, 7-2, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on the DC Soccer Field.
The Deacons took an early 1-0 lead in the second minute of play as Stacey Jones (Cairns, Australia) netted a goal off the assist from Laura Nunnery (St. Simon's Island, GA).
Dominican answered back with three unanswered goals to end the first half with a 3-1 lead. Porter netted her first goal off the assist from defender Jane Dorsey (Ocean Grove, NJ) at the 17:04 mark and tallied her second goal at 35:16 off a penalty kick that was awarded after a handball was called in the box to give DC a 2-1 lead.
Snyder later scored her first goal of the game after winning the ball from the BC defender in the 43rd minute of action to extend the lead to 3-1.
Snyder scored her second goal of the contest just under three minutes into the second half to make the score 4-1.
BC broke the Lady Charger scoring run at 66:07 as senior Erika Len (Haledon, NJ) netted a goal off the corner kick from teammate Mikie Bradley (West Orange, NJ) to bring the team within two goals, 4-2.
DC closed out the scoring with another 3-0 run as Snyder got her third goal of the game in the 78th minute off the assist from senior midfielder Kristen Haycook (Point Pleasant, NJ) to regain a three goal advantage, 5-2.
Rookie Mackenzie Riley (Zanesville, OH) notched her third goal of the season at 79:12 off Dorsey's second assist of the day and Porter closed out the game with her third goal off Haycook's second assist in the 82nd minute of play for the final 7-2 victory.
Dominican keeper Kari Spicer (Littleton, CO) made three saves in the victory, while Bloomfield keeper Adriana Moreno (Harrison, NJ) had eight saves.
The Lady Chargers controlled the offensive end of the game, outshooting the Deacons 32-17 and holding an 8-4 advantage in penalty kicks.
With the victory Dominican improves to 6-3 overall and 4-3 in the CACC, while Bloomfield falls to 2-5-1 overall and 0-5-1 in conference play.
