Lakewood, N.J. (9/22/18) The Dominican College women's soccer team fell to the Lions of Georgian Court University on Saturday by a score of 5-1. The Lions, 5-3 (4-0 CACC), remained unbeaten in conference play with the win over DC. The Chargers, 1-6-1 (1-3-1 CACC), coming off their first win of the year were unable to win back to back games.
The Lions started off strong in the first half by taking 14 shots in the opening 45 minutes. The Chargers were held to no shots in the first half. At the 6:08 mark of the game, Heather Arbachesky scored her fifth goal of the season to give the Lions a 1-0 led.
At the 18:47 mark, the Lions extended their lead to 2-0 when Annissia Fucci scored her second goal of the season. The Lions took a 2-0 into halftime over the Chargers.
Just over five minutes into the second half at 50:03, freshman forward Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) put DC on the board and cut the GCU lead to 2-1.
The Lions answered with three straight goals to take a 5-1 lead over Dominican. Michaella Paradiso and Marin Kulenguski scored back to back goals and Heather Arbachesky followed for her second goal of the game for the 5-1 lead.
The Chargers finished with six shots in the game, all were recorded in the second half. The Lions fired 24 total shots in the win, and 15 were recorded on goal.
DC goalkeeper Angelica Contreras (Baytown, Texas) recorded nine saves and Jasmine Pisante (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.), who entered later in the game, recorded one save.
Dominican will look to bounce back when they return home on Wednesday, September 26th as they host Molloy College at 3:30 PM.
