Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/6/18) The Dominican College women's soccer team upended the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 3-2, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played on the DC Soccer Field.
Dominican (2-9-1, 2-5-1 CACC) struck first as freshman forward Megan Geary (Campbell, N.Y.) netted her third goal of the season after beating a defender and putting the ball in the back of the net in the 11th minute of action.
The Griffins would tie the score in the 52nd minute off a free kick and take a 2-1 lead four minutes later on a header goal following a free kick.
The Lady Chargers tied the match in the 60th minute as junior Lauren Drake (Clifton Park, N.Y.) scored her first score of the year on a penalty kick following a hand ball call in the box.
Freshman Abby Montera (New City, N.Y.) tallied the game-winner at the 66:02 mark after the cross from Drake to lift the Lady Chargers to the 3-2 victory.
DC had the edge in both shots (12-11) and corner kicks (5-4) in the contest.
Keeper Jasmine Pesante (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) made three saves in the win.
Dominican returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to conference opponent, Post University.
