AXELROD RESIGNS AS HEAD WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH
Orangeburg, N.Y. (6/11/26) Dominican University New York Director of Athletics, Joseph S. Clinton, has announced the resignation of Brett Axelrod, Head Women's Soccer Coach, effective June 14th.
"The last three years have been a wonderful experience at Dominican. I'm incredibly proud of the young women that our recent graduates have become and the steps that our current student-athletes are taking in their athletic, academic, and professional careers," said Axelrod. "I'd like to thank Athletic Director Joe Clinton for entrusting me with the women's soccer program as well as Associate AD/SID/SWA Kelly-Ann Light and Head Men's Soccer Coach, Jordan Collver, for their support and encouragement during my time in Orangeburg. Dominican is a special place with amazing faculty and staff groups that care deeply for the student body and I wish the current everyone here nothing but the best this coming fall and in the years to come."
Axelrod has been at the helm of the Lady Chargers for the past three seasons where Dominican made two appearances in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Championship Tournament (2023 and 2024). The 2024 season saw DUNY reach the CACC Championship Semi-Finals. He amassed a coaching record of 18-27-8 overall and a 13-14-6 record in the CACC.
In the 2025 season, his team had six players earn College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® honors, while eight players were named to the CACC All-Academic Team.
The 2024 season had four players earn CSC Academic All-District® accolades and six named to the CACC All-Academic Team. Senior Isabella Wysocki was named to the All-CACC Second Team and to the D2 Conference Commisioners Assocation (CCA) All-East Region Second Team. The team were recipients of the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
"I'd like to thank Brett for his dedication and passion in leading our women's soccer team over the past three years," Clinton said. "I wish him all the best in the future as he returns to the Division I level."
A national search will begin for the program's next head coach.
