LADY CHARGERS VOLLEYBALL FALL TO SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE
Orangeburg, NY (9/15/08) The Dominican College Lady Chargers volleyball team dropped a 0-3 (21-25, 17-25, 13-25) match to the visiting Owls of Southern Connecticut State University this evening in a non-conference match held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

In the first set, SCSU rallied from an 18-13 deficit to knot the game at 19-19 on a kill by Broghan Miller (West Hartford, CT). With the set tied at 21-21, the Owls went on a 4-0 run for the 25-21 victory.
The Lady Chargers jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the second set, but the Owls rallied to take a8-7 lead en route to a second set win of 25-17.
SCSU never trailed in the third set, taking an early 12-6 lead en route to the 25-13 set and match win.
Outside hitter Jenna Tammel (Spring Valley, MN) led all attackers with 14 kills. Miller finished the night with 10 kills, while Marcia Hollingsworth (Alexandria, VA) had a match leading four blocks. Setter Andrea Nolan (Ridgefield, NJ) had 21 assists in the win, while Manjit Chase (Alexandria, VA) added 10 assists.
Senior outside hitter Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) led the Lady Chargers with eight kills. Sophomore Akirrah Cooper (Bronx, NY) had four kills, while libero Nicole Bagatta (Bellerose, NY) had a team leading 10 digs. Senior setter Kaitlin Earl (Greenville, NY) had a team leading 18 assists.
With the win the Owls improve to 10-3 overall, while the Lady Chargers fall to 0-5.
Dominican is back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Caldwell College. Game time is slated for 7pm.
