LADY CHARGERS VOLLEYBALL DROPS SECOND GAME AT 2010 SAINT LEO LION CLASSIC
Saint Leo, FL (9/3/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team dropped their second contest of the season to Saginaw Valley State University, 3-0 (18-25, 24-26, 13-25) this afternoon in their second match at the 2010 Saint Leo Lion Classic.
Saint Leo, FL (9/3/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team dropped their second contest of the season to Saginaw Valley State University, 3-0 (18-25, 24-26, 13-25) this afternoon in their second match at the 2010 Saint Leo Lion Classic.
Dominican held an early 4-2 lead in the first set, but a 5-1 run by SVSU put them ahead 7-5 and they built up a 16-11 lead. DC was able to cut the deficit to 21-18, but Saginaw Valley was able to close out the set with four straight points for the 25-18 win.
The second set saw the Lady Chargers jump out to an 7-2 lead and held a 22-20 lead when the Cardinals tallied two points to tie the set at 22-22. Once again tied at 24-24, Saginaw Valley used a kill and an a service ace to close out the set for a 26-24 win.
The Cardinals held a 9-6 lead in the third set and never looked back en route to a 25-13 win and the 3-0 match victory.
Sophomores Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) and Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) led the Lady Chargers with four kills each in the loss, while Ranger recorded 10 assists.
With the loss Dominican falls to 0-2 on the season.
DC is back in action tomorrow at the Saint Leo Lion Classic as they take on Upper Iowa University at 9:30 am and will face host Saint Leo University at 2:30 pm.
