VOLLEYBALL SPLITS ON DAY ONE OF NE-MID ATLANTIC INVITATIONAL
Springfield, MA (9/10/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team split on day one of the NE-Mid Atlantic Invitational today after losing to host American International College, 3-0 (23-25, 23-25, 15-25) and defeating the College of Saint Rose (23-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-22) in Butova Gymnasium.

Springfield, MA (9/10/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team split on day one of the NE-Mid Atlantic Challenge today after losing to host American International College, 3-0 (23-25, 23-25, 15-25) and defeating the College of Saint Rose (23-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-22) in Butova Gymnasium.
The first set against AIC saw a close knit battle where the Yellow Jackets came out on top 25-23. In the second set the Lady Chargers held a 20-15 lead when a 6-0 run by AIC tied the set at 20-20. Trailing 24-22, sophomore Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) tallied a kill to pull within a point, but AIC closed out the set with a kill for the 25-23 set win and 2-0 lead.
In the third set, AIC jumped out to a 10-5 lead and never looked back en route to a 25-15 third set win and 3-0 match victory.
Heard led the team with 12 kills, while Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) tallied 27 assists and Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) added six kills.
Fiovanti led the Lady Chargers in the victory against Saint Rose with 13 kills,while Heard added six kills and Ranger had 31 assists.
With the split Dominican now stands at 2-5 overall.
