WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL GOES 1-2 ON FINAL DAY OF NE-MID ATLANTIC CHALLENGE

Springfield, MA (9/11/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team wrapped up their play in the NE-Mid Atlantic Challenge hosted by American International College by going in 1-2 in matches played this afternoon. DC defeated Molloy College, 3-0 (25-14; 25-15; 25-10), but fell to Dowling College, 3-0 (17-25; 17-25; 15-25) and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, 3-0 (12-25; 18-25; 17-25).

Springfield, MA (9/11/10)  The Dominican College women's volleyball team wrapped up their play in the NE-Mid Atlantic Challenge hosted by American International College by going in 1-2 in matches played this afternoon.  DC defeated Molloy College, 3-0 (25-14; 25-15; 25-10), but fell to Dowling College, 3-0 (17-25; 17-25; 15-25) and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, 3-0 (12-25; 18-25; 17-25).

In the victory against Molloy, sophomore outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led the team with eight kills, while Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) and Kerianne Dudley (Nanuet, NY) each tallied six kills a piece.  Setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) led the match with 23 assists.

The loss to Dowling saw Dudley lead the team with five kills, while Ranger recorded 15 assists and Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) led the 12 defensive digs.

In DC's finale against the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Ranger led the way with seven kills and 15 assists.  Fiorvanti added six kills, while Fuller led the team with 13 defensive digs.

For her efforts Heard was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Following the day Dominican now stands at 3-7 overall.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they have their home and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener against Concordia College at 7pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
