WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TOPS CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (9/14/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team topped the visiting Clippers from Concordia College, 3-1 (22-25, 25-11, 27-25, 25-19) this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

In the first set Dominican held a 16-12 lead when a 6-2 run by Concordia tied the set at 18-18. The Clippers closed out the set with a 7-4 run for the 25-22 win.
Dominican never trailed in the second set as they built up a 12-4 lead. Leading 21-10, the Lady Chargers closed out the set with a 4-1 run for the 25-11 set win and 1-1 match tie.
The third set was a close knith battle as neither team led by more than four points as DC held a 21-17 lead. The Clippers rallied with a 7-1 run to take a 24-22 lead. Back-to-back kills by Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) and Randi Garrett (Rockledge, FL) tied the set at 24-24. Later tied 25-25, two straight points by Dominican gave them the 27-25 set win and 2-1 match lead.
DC jumped out to an 8-2 lead in set four and never would trail as they went on to the 25-19 set win and 3-1 match victory.
Fiorvanti led all attackers with 13 kills for the Lady Chargers. Setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) recorded eight kills and a match leading 40 assists. Sophomore Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) tallied eight kills, while blocker Yashani Smith (West Haverstraw, NY) had four blocks.
Freshman Irina Impellittiere (Cold Spring, NY) led the Clippers with 10 kills. Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) had nine kills, while setter Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, NY) led the team with 28 assists.
With the win Dominican improves to 4-7 overall and 2-0 in the CACC, while Concordia falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action at the Hennessy Center tomorrow night when they take on Molloy College in a non-conference match on Coach Baxter Court.
