WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL RALLY TO DEFEAT FELICIAN COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (10/28/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician College, 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 16-25, 25-17, 15-13), this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, NY (10/28/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician College, 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 16-25, 25-17, 15-13), this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Dominican never trailed in the first set as they geld an 11-9 lead and extended the lead to 18-13 with a 7-4 run. A service ace by sophomore Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) secured a 25-17 set one win.
Tied 14-all in set two, Felician gained a 20-18 advantage and held a 23-21 lead when a kill by senior Amber Doran (Little Ferry, NJ) put them at set point. An FC attack error made the score 24-22, but Doran closed out the set with a kill to tie the match at 1-1.
Set three was tied 10-10 when FC went on a 4-2 spurt to take a 14-12 lead. Leading 19-16, the Golden Falcons went on a 6-0 service run by Nicole Degenhardt (Secaucus, NJ) to take the set 25-16 and gain a 2-1 match lead.
Dominican held a 16-15 lead in set four when a 4-2 run put them ahead 20-17. Sophomore N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, NY) served the final five points of the set to give DC a 25-17 win.
In the decisive set, the Lady Chargers were at match point, 14-8, when the Golden Falcons clawed back with five straight points to trail 14-13. A kill from sophomore Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) closed out the set and gave DC the 15-13 win and 3-2 match victory.
Ranger led the three Lady Chargers in double figures in kills with 15 kills and recording 36 assists. Fiorvanti finished with 12 kills, while sophomore Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) ended the night with 11 kills. Libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) led the team with 15 digs.
With the victory Dominican improves to 14-15 overall and 11-5 in the CACC.
