VOLLEYBALL WINS CACC OPENING MATCH
Bloomfield, N.J. (9/6/12) The Dominican College volleyball team won their opening match of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play this evening as they defeated host, Bloomfield College, 3-1, in a match played at the Deacon Den. The Lady Chargers took the first set 25-23 and won set two 25-22, while the Deacons won the third set 25-23. DC won the match in the fourth set with the 25-19 win.

The Lady Chargers took the first set 25-23 and won set two 25-22, while the Deacons won the third set 25-23. DC won the match in the fourth set with the 25-19 win.
Dominican held a 21-14 lead in set one, but the Deacons rallied with nine straight points to take a 23-21 advantage. Sophomore Kayla Dexter (Selah, Wash.) broke the run with a kill and setter Whitney Ranger* (Ventura, Calif.) recorded back-to-back service aces to put the team at set point, 24-23. Dexter closed out the set with a kill for the 25-23 win.
The Lady Chargers held a slight 14-13 lead in the second set when DC outscored BC, 6-3 over the next nine points to go up 20-16 and they never looked back en route to the 25-22 win.
Set three saw the score tied at 17-all when Bloomfield went on on a 6-2 run to take a 23-19 lead. The Lady Chargers came back to tie the score at 23-23, but back-to-back Deacon kills gave them the 25-23 set win.
DC led 20-19 in the fourth set and closed out the match with five straight points for the 25-19 win and 3-1 match victory.
