WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS CALDWELL COLLEGE

Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/11/12) The Dominican College women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after sweeping the visiting Cougars of Caldwell College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) this evening a match played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the win, Dominican improves to 5-5 overall.

(9/11/12)  The Dominican College women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after sweeping the visiting Cougars of Caldwell College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) this evening a match played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.  With the win, Dominican improves to 5-5 overall.

Set one was tied 17-all when the Lady Chargers struck for four consecutive points to go ahead 21-17.  A kill by Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, N.Y.) made the score 22-18 and two Cougar attack errors and a service ace from Kristen Loney* (Pine Bush, N.Y.) gave Domincian the 25-18 set win.

The second set was tied at 18-18 when another 4-0 Lady Charger run capped off by a kill from freshman Tori Dexter (Selah, Wash.) gave the team a 22-18 lead.  Later ahead 23-21, Dominican recorded kills from Kayla Dexter (Selah, Wash.) and Loney for the 25-21 win and 2-0 match lead.

The Lady Chargers led 11-7 in set three, but the Cougars rallied and later tied the score at 15-15.  Dominican outscored Caldwell 5-2 over the next seven points to gain a 20-17 advantage en route to the eventual 25-21 win and 3-0 match victory.

Fiorvanti led all attackers with 11 kills on the evening, while adding 10 defensive digs.  Loney and senior Courtney Heard (Ventura, Calif.) each added eight kills, while Randi Garrett (Rockledge, Fla.) tallied seven kills.

Senior setter Whitney Ranger* (Ventura, Calif.) had matching leading 36 assists.

Libero Jordyn Fuller* (Keller, Texas) had a night best 20 defensive digs.

T. Dexter finished the night with three kills and 10 digs.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Thursday night in a non-conference match at Molloy College.
