Men’s Basketball- The men’s basketball team had a perfect 2-0 week to improve their overall record to 2-2 and cap off a 2-0 start in CACC play. On 12/1, the Chargers traveled up to Post University and came away with a 71-58 victory, after going on a 10-0 run to start the game. Prince Jackson led the team with 21 points, while James Gray added 16 points for DC. Freshman Damien Davis netted nine points as Dominican shot 43% from the floor. On 12/3, the Chargers picked up a big win in Philadelphia as they handed USP a 66-63 loss. Tahiem Stewart came off the bench to score 16 points and grab seven rebounds in the win. Junior Chaz Holloway contributed 11 points and five rebounds. Davis put the team up for good with thirty seconds left on the clock, hitting a big three point bucket to make the score, 63-59. This week the Chargers will face off against CACC rival, Nyack College, on 12/6 at 8pm in Nyack. The team will return home on 12/8 to host Felician College at 8pm and Philadelphia University on 12/10 at 3pm.
Women’s
Basketball-
The Lady Chargers posted a 1-1 record this week. The team now
stands at 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the CACC. On 12/1 DC
suffered a tough 70-76 loss to Post University in Waterbury,
CT. Jill Younghans led the team with 15
points, while point guard Jackie Tracey added 12
points and four steals. Sophomore Dana Rotio
had her first double-double of the year, 12 points and 10 rebounds
in the loss. Senior Ashley Rossi netted nine
points and had three blocks. On 12/3, Dominican rebounded to
win a big road game over USP, 66-58. Rossi
led the team with 18 points, while Rotio had17
points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Tracey chipped in 12 points and freshman forward
Jillian Degnan contributed 10 points in the
win. This week the Chargers will travel to Nyack College on
12/6 for a 6pm game and will return home on 12/8 to host Felician
College at 6pm. They will wrap up the week with a game
against Philadelphia University at 1pm at the Hennessy Center.
