DOMINICAN SELECTED FIRST IN CACC PRESEASON BASEBALL POLL
NEW HAVEN (February 9, 2006) – Dominican College is the preseason favorite to win the 2006 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) baseball title, according to a poll conducted by the league’s 10 head coaches. The Chargers received seven first-place votes, while NJIT, Wilmington and Caldwell each garnered one first-place nod.

NEW HAVEN (February 9, 2006) – Dominican College is the preseason favorite to win the 2006 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) baseball title, according to a poll conducted by the league’s 10 head coaches. The Chargers received seven first-place votes, while NJIT, Wilmington and Caldwell each garnered one first-place nod.
Dominican received 95 total points in the poll and was followed closely by NJIT (86) and Wilmington (79). The Chargers defeated the Highlanders to win both the CACC Tournament and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships last season. The Chargers finished with a 27-19 overall record in 2005, along with a 16-8 conference record, while NJIT concluded the season 22-20 overall and 18-6 in the CACC. Wilmington finished with a 21-25 overall slate and finished fourth in the CACC with a 15-9 record.
The top five teams in the preseason poll was rounded out by Caldwell (70 points) and Felician (56 points). Conference newcomer Philadelphia University finished sixth in the preseason poll with 52 points. The Rams were members of the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference last season.
