Dominican's Mejia Named Co-CACC Player of the Week
New Haven, CT - Mike Rooth of Felician College has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 12. Tommy Mejia of Dominican College has been selected as the Pitcher of the Week and Jorge Torres of Caldwell College has been selected as the Rookie of the Week.
Rooth And Mejia Earn Baseball Weekly Honors
New Haven, CT - Mike Rooth of Felician College has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 12. Tommy Mejia of Dominican College has been selected as the Pitcher of the Week and Jorge Torres of Caldwell College has been selected as the Rookie of the Week.
Rooth, a senior 3B from Bayville, NJ, hit .541 for the week with two home runs, six doubles and nine runs batted in. He smacked a home run to tie the score against Clarion on Saturday, and the Golden Falcons went on to score six more runs in a 15-10 victory.
Mejia, a sophomore from Brooklyn, NY, posted two wins last week with a 1.20 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 15.0 innings of work. He hurled a complete game against St. Thomas Aquinas and allowed only three hits and one earned run.
Torres, a freshman OF from Coral Springs, FL, hit .286 in his first collegiate week of action. He smacked one double and stole one base. He went 2-for-4 with a double against Southern Connecticut State
