Holbrook NY (3/15/06) The Golden Lions held the Dominican chargers scoreless for the first six innings and gave up only one run to record a 5-1 win over the in their home opener on March 15 at the PAL Complex. The Golden Lions climb to 3-5 on the season as the Chargers drop to 7-6.

Holbrook NY (3/15/06)  The Golden Lions held the Dominican chargers scoreless for the first six innings and gave up only one run to record a 5-1 win over the in their home opener on March 15 at the PAL Complex.  The Golden Lions climb to 3-5 on the season as the Chargers drop to 7-6.

Ryan Grabowski (Central Islip, NY) opened at the plate with a double that propelled a 4 hit, 3 run inning, that gave Dowling a 3-0 edge over the Chargers.  NYCAC Player of the Week Kevin Reese (Ronkonkoma, NY) increased the lead to 4-0 in the second as he singled to bring home Matt Monastero (Ridge, NY), while the Chargers remained scoreless.

The Chargers smacked their first hit in the fifth inning, but couldn’t capitalize as they left a runner on second.  Peter Gilardo (Cornwall, NY) drove in Dominican’s lone run in the seventh but Brent Lotito (Miller Place, NY) would finish the inning with back to back strikeouts.

Junior Willie Ortiz (Brooklyn, NY) went 2-2 with 2 walks and an RBI as first baseman James Healey (Bohemia, NY) went 3-4 at the plate with a double.  Lotito pitched a struck out 8 batter and gave up only 4 hits and 1 run before Chris Piotrowski (Holbrook, NY) closed out the game with 3 strike outs.

The Chargers are back in action tomorrow as they travel to C.W. Post.
