Wilmington, DE (4/21/06)  The Dominican College baseball team defeated the Wildcats of Wilmington College, 12-6 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action at Wilson Field.

The Wildcats took a 5-0 lead into the top of the fourth inning when DC struck for two runs.  Mike Zani (Goshen, NY) reached base on a WC error to start the inning and moved over to second on the sacrifice bunt by Keith Gebert (Brooklyn, NY).  Senior Eliezer Nunez (Brooklyn, NY) hit a two run homer to make the score 5-2.

DC added two more run in the top of the fifth after Jose Escalera (Bronx, NY) got a free pass, followed by another home run for the Chargers this time by third baseman Tom Keegan (Dickson City, PA) as DC pulled within two, 6-4.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Chargers capitalized on three Wilmington errors to score four runs.  Sean Brown (Massapequa, NY) had an RBI double in the inning and Jose Made (Binghamton, NY) had a RBI single as Dominican took the lead, 8-6.

The Chargers added a run in seventh as Gebert got a one out walked followed by a single by Nunez.   Both runners advanced on an error by the left fielder which allowed Gebert to score for a 9-3 lead.

Dominican tacked on three more runs in the eighth on three hits and two Wilmington errors for the final 12-6 score.

Made finished the day 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.  Nunez went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored in the win.

Tommy Mejia (Brooklyn, NY) picked up the win, going seven innings with four strike outs.  Armando Tavarez (Bronx, NY) pitched two innings of relief in the win.

Dominica improves to 29-12 on the year and 16-2 in the CACC with the win.
