Charger Baseball Sweeps Caldwell College in CACC Double-Header
Blauvelt, NY (4/29/06) The Dominican College baseball team improved to 35-13 overall and 23-3 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with a sweep over Caldwell College this afternoon.
DC took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and added four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth for a 10-3 victory in the first game.
Senior designated hitter Chad Duesler (Northville, NY) led the team with four RBIs in the game, going 2-4 with a three run homer in the third inning and scoring two runs. Junior catcher Peter Gilardo (Cornwall, NY) went 3-4, scoring three runs in the game. Tom Keegan (Dickson City, PA) went 2-4 with three runs scored in the win.
Matt Dilgen (Staten Island, NY) improved to 6-3 with the win, going six innings and fanning nine Cougar batters. Kyle Markle (Ulster Park, NY) pitched the seventh in relief.
In game two, DC scored runs in the first three innings and put the final run on the board in the seventh for a 4-2 victory.
Jose Escalera (Bronx, NY) went 2-3 in the game with one RBI and one run scored. Sean Brown (Massapequa, NY) went 1-2 with a solo home run in the second inning.
DC starter Nick Schreiber (Greencastle, PA) went 3.2 innings with three strikeouts. Joseph Catanese (Huntington, NY) pitched 2.1 innings of relief with two strikeouts to get the win and Armando Tavarez (Bronx, NY) picked up his first save of the season pitching the seventh inning.
The Chargers are back in action on Thursday when they host
Concordia College.
