Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (March 5 2006) - The No. 13 ranked Nova
Southeastern University baseball team (13-4) defeated the Dominican
College Chargers (3-2) by a 10-2 final, on Saturday afternoon at the
NSU Baseball Complex. The win marked the Sharks 10th triumph in their
last 12 games played.
NSU starter Antony Bello (Jr., Miami, Fla.) improved to 4-1 on the
season, as he scattered 5 hits, struck out 3 batters and allowed just
one run in 5 1/3 innings of work. Sharks 2B Sean McFadden (Sr.,
Hollywood, Fla.) was 4-for-4, with two doubles and drove in two runs
with a clutch single to key a four-run 2nd inning for NSU.
NSU DH Brian Ikalina (Sr., Sunrise, Fla.) got the Sharks on the board
in the 1st inning with a two-run double that plated SS Shawn Langlois
(Jr., Wellington, Fla.,) and 1B Chris Reynolds (Jr., Pembroke Pines,
Fla.), who had both singled to start the game.
NSU gave Bello nine run cushion when RF Greg Burrows (Sr., Nassau,
Bahamas) belted a three-run HR in the 4th inning. The blast was
Burroughs team-leading 5th round-tripper of the season.
Reynolds, Langlois and Ikalina collected two hits each for the Sharks,
while the Chargers were led by 2B Keith Gerbert's (Brooklyn, NY) 3-for-4 effort.
The Chargers are back in action tomorrow against Lewis University at 11am at Lynn University.
