Blauvelt, NY (4/5/07) The Nyack College Warriors baseball team defeated host Dominican College Chargers, 5-3 this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at Schaffer Field.

Blauvelt, NY (4/5/07) The Nyack College Warriors baseball team defeated host Dominican College Chargers, 5-3 this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at Schaffer Field.
Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when sophomore Jose Made (Binghamton, NY) hit a two out triple to right field and would score on a wild pitch.
Nyack took a 2-1 lead in the third as John Raebig (Lakeland, FL) led off the inning with a single to left, went to second on a wild pitch. After a walk to Christian Gutierrez (Bronx, NY) both players stole a base and Raebig scored on an RBI ground out by Jason Mulero (Bronx, NY). Gutierrez would score on an RBI single by pitcher Billy Gleason (Hollywood, FL).
The Chargers regained the lead in the fifth when catcher Peter Gilardo (Cornwall, NY) hit a one out single to center, went to third on a double to right by Willie Mann (Patterson, NY). Both runners came in to score on a double to left by freshman Nelson Cruz (East Elmhurst, NY) as DC took a 3-2 lead.
The Warriors bounced back in the top of the sixth to score two runs on one hit and capitalized on three Charger errors to take a 4-2 lead. Catcher Jesse Nunez (San Diego, CA) had an RBI single in the inning.
Nyack added a run in the seventh as Mulero got a one out single to right and later scored on the two out single to center by Gleason en route to the 5-3 Warrior victory.
Gleason got the complete game win, allowing eight hits, three runs and striking out seven Chargers.
Dominican starter Daniel Bucci (Dobbs Ferry, NY) went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four batters. Reliever Tommy Mejia (Brooklyn, NY) suffered the loss, pitching four innings and allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts, dropping his record to 1-2 on the year.
The Chargers are back in action on Monday, April 9th when they travel to Post University in CACC baseball action. Game time is 4pm.
