WILMINGTON WILDCATS TURN BACK DOMINICAN CHARGERS

Orangeburg, NY (4/25/08)  The Dominican College baseball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game this afternoon to the visiting Wilmington University Wildcats, 13-7 at Veteran's Memorial Field.

The Wildcats got on the board with two runs in the second inning on a sacrifice ground out and fly ball to the out field.  WU tacked on five runs in the third on four hits to take a 7-0 lead.

The Chargers answered back with five runs in the bottom of the third as a bases loaded walk to Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) allowed a run to score, followed by a fielder's choice by Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) which plated Jonathan Ryan (Troy, NY) and a WU error allowed  Willie Mann (Patterson, NY) to score.   A second error allowed Robinson to score and a RBI ground out by designated hitter Michael Munoz (Bronx, NY) cut the Wildcat lead to 7-5.

WU added a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Joe Danks (Pennsville, NJ), but DC responded in the bottom stanza with a run on the sacrifice fly by Ryan to score Marc Mortellaro (Middletown, NY) who had led off the inning with a double down the right field lline.

The Wildcats score three runs in the sixth on a three run shot over the right field fence by Danks.  The Chargers got a run back in the bottom of the sixth on the fielder's choice to Berrios  to make the score 11-7.

Wilmington ended the scoring with a two run seventh inning on a two run homer to Cody Holliday (Havre de Grace, MD) for the final 13-7 victory.

Jimmy Okoniewski (Wilmington, DE) got the win (3-2) in six innings of work, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits.

Dominican starter Brian Craig (Shenandoah, PA) took the loss (1-3) in two innings, allowing four runs on three hits.
