BASEBALL SPLITS WITH UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS-LOWELL
Fort Lauderdale, FL (3/14/09) The Dominican College baseball team split a non-conference double-header with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell this afternoon at the Santaluces Sportsplex. UMASS-Lowell took the first game 10-5, while DC won the night cap 6-4.
Fort Lauderdale, FL (3/14/09) The Dominican College baseball team split a non-conference double-header with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell this afternoon at the Santaluces Sportsplex. UMASS-Lowell took the first game 10-5, while DC won the night cap 6-4.
UMASS-Lowell put up six runs in a come from behind victory, 10-5 in game one. Junior Tommy Maloney (Massapequa Park, NY) went 3-4 in the game, while sophomore Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) went 2-3 with two RBI's.
In game two, DC scored three runs in the first and never looked back to a 6-4 victory. Robinson, Marc Mortellaro (Middletown, NY) and freshman Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) each collected two hits in the victory.
Shaun Murphy (Malville, NY) picked up the win going six innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and five strikeouts.
With the split Dominican now stands at 4-3 overall.
DC is back in action at the Santaluces Sportsplex tomorrow morning when they take on the University of New Haven.
