BASEBALL DEFEATS QUEENS COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (3/17/09) The Dominican College baseball team won a non-conference game against Queens College, 6-5 this afternoon at Ray Metski Field.
Orangeburg, NY (3/17/09) The Dominican College baseball team won a non-conference game against Queens College, 6-5 this afternoon at Ray Metski Field.
Queens got on the board in the bottom of the first with a run, but the Chargers scored two runs in the third to take a 2-1 lead. The Knights rallied with three runs in the fourth and added a run in the sixth to take a 5-2 lead, however DC answered back with two runs a piece in the seventh and eighth innings en route to the 6-5 victory.
Freshman Armando Alvarez (Miami, FL) went 3-4 with two runs scored, while center fielder Alexi Colon (Millville, NJ) led the team with three RBI's and sophomore Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) added two RBI's in the win.
Starter Brian Craig (Shenandoah, PA) went seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and three strikeouts in the win. CACC and ECAC Pitcher of the Week, Jack Crawford (Montgomery, NY) came in for a scoreless eighth and freshman Justin Moore (Wantagh, NY) came in to pitch the ninth and record the save, surrendering just one hit and one strikeout.
With the win Dominican improves to 6-3 on the season.
The Chargers are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Adelphi University in a non-conference game.
