BASEBALLL SPLITS WITH NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (3/25/09) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Nyack College Warriors this after noon at Veteran's Memorial Park. DC won the first game, 8-6, while Nyack won the second game, 5-1.

Dominican scored six runs in the third inning on six hits. Junior Yordis Veras (Jamaica, NY) had an RBI single through the left side, while right fielder Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) singled down the left field line to score two runs. A double to left field by designated hitter Michael Munoz (Bronx, NY) brought in a run, followed later by a sacrifice fly ball to right field by freshman Alexi Colon (Millville, NJ) to give DC a 5-0 lead. Munoz later scored on a passed ball for a 6-0 lead.
Nyack fought back with three runs on five hits to cut the lead to 6-3. DC answered back with two runs in the bottom stanza as Colon had an RBI single to right field and junior Tom Maloney (Massapequa Park, NY) scored on a wild pitch to five DC an 8-3 lead.
The Warriors platted three runs in the eighth, but the Chargers hung on for the 8-6 victory.
Senior Brian Craig (Shenandoah, PA) got the win to improve to 2-2, going 7 1/3 innings and allowing six runs on 13 hits. Jack Crawford (Montgomery, NY) came in for 2/3 of an inning and freshman Justin Moore (Wantagh, NY) picked up his sixth save of the season in one inning of work.
In game two, the Warriors struck first with two runs in the opening inning to take a 2-0 lead. DC cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom stanza on an RBI double to center by Munoz.
NC struck for three runs in the top of the seventh on two hits and taking advantage of a DC throwing error as the went on to the 5-1 win.
Junior Todd Craig (Shenandoah, PA) suffered the complete game loss (2-2), allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits.
With the split Dominican now stands at 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the CACC, while Nyack is now 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the CACC.
