DC wasted no time getting on the board with a four run first inning. Armando Alvarez (Miami, FL) reached first base on a dropped third strike and later came in to score on a Warrior error. Outfielder Dan Robinson (Massapequa Park, NY) hit a sacrifice fly ball to left to score a run and two more runs came in on the two-out double by freshman Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY).
The Chargers followed with a two run second inning on to RBI ground outs, one by Alvarez and the second from junior Tommy Maloney (Massapequa, NY) to give the team a dominating 6-0 lead. Dominican platted four more runs in the third on RBI singles by Bonilla and catcher Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ), followed by a run scoring double off the bat of freshman Alexi Colon (Millville, NJ) and an RBI single by Alvarez.
Dominican scored runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings as Colon hit a three run blast in the fifth, Iglesias had an RBI single and shortstop Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) had an RBI double in the sixth and designated hitter Michael Munoz (Bronx, NY) had a run scoring triple, followed by an RBI ground out by Robinson to put DC up 17-0. The Warrriors put runs on the board in the seventh and eighth innings as Dominican charged on for the 17-2 victory.
Colon finished the night 2-5 with 5 RBIs and three runs scored, while Iglesias led the team with 4 hits and Bonilla finished with three RBIs.
Starter Brian Craig (Shenandoah, PA) got the win in eight innings of work to improve to 3-2 on the season, allowing just two runs on four hits and striking out 12.
With the win Dominican improves to 13-8 overall and 5-4 in the CACC.
