BASEBALL SPLITS WITH WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
New Castle, DE (4/4/09) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host Wilmington University this afternoon at Wilson Field. DC won the first game, 6-2 while WU won the second game 3-0.

The 'Cats took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on an RBI groundout, but the Chargers struck back with a four-run fifth inning to take a 4-1 lead as freshman Armando Alvarez (Miami, FL) hit a two-out grand slam home run.
WU cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom stanza but DC added a run in the seventh on a solo blast by freshman outfielder Alexi Colon (Millville, NJ) and increased their lead to 6-2 on a sacrifice fly ball by Michael Munoz (Bronx, NY) in the top of the ninth.
Right-hander Tom Kahl (Bay Shore, NY) improved to 5-0 on the season after going seven innings and allowing two runs on six hits and seven strikeouts. Reliever Jack Crawford (Montgomery, NY) picked up his first save in the final two innings, allowing just one hit and four strikeouts.
The Wildcats struck back in game two with a three run third inning as they shut out the Chargers, 3-0. Junior Todd Craig (Shenandoah, PA) took the loss (2-2) pitching a complete game and allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and five strikeouts.
With the split Dominican now stands at 15-9 overall and 6-5 in the CACC.
Dominican wraps up the season series as the host Wilmington tomorrow morning at 11:30 am.
