#1 BASEBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER FELICIAN COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (4/24/09) The Dominican College baseball team, ranked #1 in the NCAA East Region, extended their winning streak to 11 games after defeating Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Felician College, 6-5 this afternoon at Breslin Field.

The Chargers struck for their first run of the game in the second inning on an RBI single to left field by catcher Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ). DC added two insurance runs in the top of the fourth as Iglesias delivered and RBI double down the left field line and left fielder Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) added an RBI single to left center to extend the lead to 3-0.
Felician struck back with a run in three consecutive innings to tie the game at 3-3 in the seventh inning. Dominican pulled ahead with a three run eighth inning as junior Willie Mann (Patterson, NY) reached on a Golden Falcon error and later scored on a wild pitch. Freshman center fielder Alexi Colon (Millville, NJ) got a key two out single to center to plate two runs and put DC ahead 6-3. FC put a run on the board in the ninth for the final 6-4 Dominican victory.
Charger starter Tom Kahl (Bay Shore, NY) went six innings in the no decision, allowing two runs (none earned) on seven hits and eight strikeouts. Reliever Dominick Ruscitti (Washingtonville, NY) got the win in two innings of work, allowing one run on three hits to improve to 2-1 on the season. Closer Justin Moore (Wantagh, NY), who leads the CACC in saves, picked up his 13th save of the season after pitching the ninth, allowing one run on one hit.
With the victory Dominican improves to 26-9 overall and 14-5 in the CACC.
The Chargers wrap up the season series with Felician tomorrow afternoon in a double-header slated to begin at Tappan Zee High School at noon.
