Orangeburg, NY (4/25/09) The #1 Dominican College Chargers baseball team wrapped up a season series sweep of Felician College this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header. DC won the first game, 14-6 and took the night cap, 10-3.

DC got on the board in the top of the first as freshman Alexi Colon (Millville,NJ) led the game off with a double down the right field line. With two out designated hitter Marc Mortellaro (Middletown, NY) delivered an RBI single down the right field line to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead.
The Golden Falcons took a 2-1 lead in the third as senior Anthony Spina (Toms River, NJ) led off the inning with a double down the right field, followed by an RBI double to center by Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, NJ). Zudonyi advanced to third on a DC fielding error and later came in to score on a wild pitch.
Dominican regained a 4-2 lead in the fourth as junior Willie Mann (Patterson, NY) led off the inning with a single to right center and a fielder's choice put shortstop Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) on first. Colon blasted a two out three-run homer to left center to put DC back in the lead.
The Chargers added two insurance runs in the fifth as junior first basemen Tommy Maloney (Massapequa Park, NY) led off the inning with a solo home run to center field and Mann rocked an RBI single to right field to score Mortellaro who received a free pass. In the sixth, Yordis Veras (Jamaica, NY) hit DC's third home run of the game over the left field fence for a 7-2 lead.
RBI hits by Colon and catcher Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) and Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) steal of home plate extended the DC lead to 10-2. FC put two runs on the board in the eighth on a solo blast by Zudonyi and took advantage of a DC error to cut the lead to 10-4. The Chargers answered back with a four run eighth inning on RBI hits by Robinson, Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) and Iglesias. The fourth run scored on a FC fielding error.
Felician tabbed two runs in the ninth on a two run home run to center by Anthony Balmos (Egg Harbor Twp, NJ) for the final 14-6 Charger victory.
Senior Brian Craig (Shenandoah, PA) got the win (5-2) in eight innings of work, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and nine strikeouts. Freshman Cody Smith (Wales, WI) came in for the ninth. FC starter Albie Sanguiliano (Felmington, NJ) took the loss (5-3), allowing six runs on seven hits.
Felician took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first on a RBI run single by junior Alex Del Valle (Miami, FL) with the second run coming in to score on a DC fielding error.
In the bottom stanza Colon collected his second home run of the day with a lead off shot over the centerfield fence. The Golden Falcons regained a two run advantage in the second on an RBI infield single by Zudonyi.
DC platted a run in the bottom stanza on a Golden Falcon throwing error to cut the deficit to 3-2. Dominican exploded for seven runs in the third inning as back to back bases loaded walks to Mann and Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) platted two runners. Lopez's infield single scored two more runs and Colon notched his third home run of the day (7th of the season) with a three-run blast to right center to put Dominican up 9-3. An RBI single by Maloney in the bottom of the sixth increased the lead to 10-3.
RBI hits by Munoz and pinch hitter Joey Porro (Miami, FL) in the sixth gave put DC up 12-3, but FC would score three runs in the seventh on an RBI double to right by Marcos Torres (Miami, FL) and RBI singles by Vinnie DiBenedetti (Forked River, NJ) and Jordan Noval (Malanapan, NJ) for the final 12-6 DC victory.
Junior Todd Craig (Shenandoah, PA) got the complete game win to improve to 5-2 on the year, allowing six runs (three earned) on 11 hits and five strikeouts. Freshman Shane Junger (Waretown, NJ) suffered the loss (3-3) after allowing seven runs (six earned) on four hits.
With the wins Dominican improves to 28-9 overall and 16-5 in the CACC, while extending their winning streak to 13 straight games. Felician falls to 20-19 overall and 10-10 in the CACC.
