Blauvelt, NY
(5/31/06) Dominican College Director of
Athletics, Joe Clinton, has announced the
retirement of Golf Coach, Jim Gallagher,
after eight successful seasons.
"It's been a fantastic experiences from beginning to end. We've had some great teams and players and won some great victories," Gallagher said. "Changing to the NCAA Division II four years ago dictated that we play in more major tournaments with 15 plus teams in each. The tougher competition has really paid off and this year, for the first time, we qualified for post season play in the Super Regionals."
"Jim Gallagher will be missed at Dominican College," said Clinton. "The golf team has been very successful over the past eight years because of his commitment and dedication to the program. We wish him the best as he retires from coaching golf."
Under Gallagher, the team has excelled with four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships and two Regional Championships. They also qualified to participate in two National NAIA Championships, 1999 at PGA National Golf Course Palm Beach Gardens, FL and 2001 at Isleta Golf Course in Albuquerque, NM.
"We have steadily improved our standing in the Region and with
all the players returning next year the results will be even
better. I will really miss them, but I will be following and
enjoying their success," Gallagher said.
