MACKEY FINISHES DAY ONE OF NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Houston, TX (5/14/08) Dominican College golfer, Brian Mackey, has finished the first day of the NCAA Championships in a tie for 43rd place after shooting an opening round of 72 (+2).
Mackey, a senior from Chestnut Ridge, NY, started
out on the back nine this afternoon and was able to shoot for par
on the first hole. After bogeying hole 11, he shot for par on
hole 12 and bogeyed hole 13, but was able finish out the back nine
with pars on holes 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18.
On the front nine, Mackey was able to birdie the first hole to get a stroke back and shoot for par on holes 2, 3 and 4. He bogeyed holes 5 and 6, but rounded out the final three holes with two pars and a birdie on hole 9 for a 72 (+2) finish.
Mackey returns to Memorial Park Golf Course
tomorrow in the second round of the NCAA Men's Championships.
