Bio
Coach Mackey begins his eighth year as head coach. Coach Mackey was named the 2008 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Coach of the Year. During his tenure as head coach, the Chargers Golf Team won the 2008 Regional Championship with an individual player, who then competed in the 2008 NCAA Division II National Championship in Houston, Texas.
The team also captured their first Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship in the Fall of 2008. In the past three years, six players have been selected to the CACC All-Conference Team and five players have been named to the NCAA Division II All-Region Team. In 2008, the team had it's first every player named as an NCAA Division II All-American.
Mackey is a graduate of Albertus Magnus High School, Rockland Community College and attended Mercy College. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam and is a retired Senior Investigator with New York State Police. Coach Mackey has been associated with the game of golf for over 36 years.
Coach Mackey’s daughter, Lisa, is a 2003 graduate of Dominican College and is currently working in the field of forensic psychology after receiving her master’s degree from John Jay College in 2005. Mackey's son, Brian, is a 2008 graduate of Dominican College and is currently one of the team's assistant coaches.
Coach Mackey resides in Chestnut Ridge, New York, with his wife Sandra, a speech and language pathologist.
