Warriors Hand Chargers First Conference Loss of Season
Nyack, NY (12/6/05) The Nyack College Warriors handed the Dominican College Chargers (2-3, 2-1) their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss of the year, 87-69, this evening at the Nyack College Athletic Center.
Nyack come out on fire, shooting 52% (18-34), to grab a 18 point lead at the half, 45-27. They would continue to shoot well in the second going 12-24 to finish the game at 51.7% from the floor.
The Warriors were led by Sheanan Martinez with 23 points and four assists. Brian Roberts chippped in 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Adam Bauman contriubed eight assists, while John Van Dunk had a team leading eight rebounds and Josh Pust had three steals in the win.
Dominican couldn't get their shots to fall as they shot only 40% (10-25) from the floor in the first half. It didn't get better in the second as they shot 46% (12-33)for a final 37.9% on the night.
DC was led by senior Paul Tuomey (Queens, NY) with 16 points, six rebounds and three steals. Junior Prince Jackson (Schnectady, NY) netted 14 points and Tahiem Stewart (Harlem, NY)contributed 12 points and three steals off the bench.
The Chargers will be back in action on Thursday as they host Felician College in a CACC matchup. Tip-off is set for 8pm.
