The Dominican College Chargers rallied
from a four point deficit at the half to defeat the Bloomfield
College Deacons, 93-83 this evening on Coach Baxter Court in
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men’s
action.
Bloomfield held a 47-43 lead at the half behind Allen
Dean’s 12 points off the bench.
Bloomfield shot 59.4% from the floor in the first half to
Dominican’s 51.4%.
DC tied the game with 14:18 to go on two free throws by senior
Prince Jackson (Schenectady,
NY). The Deacons regained the lead but
Dominican took the lead for good with 12:15 left on a huge three
point basket by sophomore Will Carty (Bronx,
NY).
The Deacons were led by Dean with 18 points and
seven rebounds. Omari Knox (Brooklyn,
NY) and Anthony Separovich (Sydney,
Australia) each netted 16 points in the loss, while senior
guard Andre Dabney (Plainfield, NJ) added 15
points.
The Chargers were led by Jackson who netted a game leading 27 points and nine rebounds. Carty added 17 points, while Ron Wyatt (Washingtonville, NY) and Chaz Holloway (Caldwell, NJ) each had 14 points, shooting a combined 12-14 from the floor. Junior Shelton Gibbs (Jersey City, NJ) contributed 10 points and six rebounds and point guard Kevin Buono (Suffern, NY) had a season high 12 assists in the win.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 10-10 overall and 6-6 in the CACC, while the Deacons fall to 5-15 overall and 3-10 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Monday when they travel to Caldwell College in CACC men’s action. Game time is slated for 8pm.
