Dominicans Jackson Scores 1,000th Point As Chargers Fall To Post University, 74-73

The Post University men’s
basketball team rallied from an eight point deficit at halftime to
defeat host Dominican College Chargers, 74-73 this evening in
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Coach
Baxter Court.
Dominican started off the game with a 12-2 run, but Post cut the
lead to 12-10 on a trey by Omar Robinson (Brooklyn,
NY). DC built the lead back up to ten points
with 8:29 left in the half as junior Ron Wyatt
(Washingtonville, NY) hit a jumper for a 22-12
lead. Senior Prince Jackson
(Schenectady, NY) netted his 1,000th career
point in just two seasons at DC with 0:53 seconds left in the first
half off a pass by Damien Davis (Windsor, CT).
The Chargers held a 48-33 lead early in the second half, but the Eagles bounced back with a 27-11 run to take a 60-59 lead. The lead extended to five, 66-61 but the Chargers charged back to tie the game with 3:03 left on a jumper by Jackson to make the score 69-69. DC was up 73-72 with 1:07 left in the game, but James Lee (Montreal, Canada) hit a jumper with 0:08 left on the clock to lift Post University to a 74-73 victory.
The Chargers
were led by Jackson and forward Will Carty
(Bronx, NY) with 14 points each and a combined nine
rebounds. Junior Shelton
Gibbs (Jersey City, NJ) netted 12 points and three
assists, while Wyatt had 10 points and seven
rebounds in the loss. Senior Chaz
Holloway (Caldwell, NJ) scored 11 points (5-8) off the
bench.
The Eagles were led by AJ Reitter (Baltimore, MD)
who netted 18 points and five points off the
bench. Peter Lawal (Uniondale,
NY) scored 12 points, while Mike Brockington (Far
Rockaway, NY) had 10 points in the win.
Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, NY) had a game
leading 13 rebounds.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 14-11 overall and 14-6 in the
CACC, while the Chargers fall to 12-14 overall and 9-10 in the
CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they host Philadelphia
University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC)
men’s action. Game time is slated for 3pm on Senior Day at
the Hennessy Center.
