2007-2008 Dominican College Men's Basketball Summary
The Dominican College men's basketball team finished their season with an overall record of 13-15 and a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record of 8-8.
The Chargers finished the regular season in third place in the CACC North Division and were seeded third in the North Division for the CACC Tournament. They traveled to second seeded, Caldwell College, in the quarter-finals and ended their season with a 65-79 loss to the Cougars. Junior guard, Brandon Brock, led the team with 17 points and five rebounds.
Leading the team this year in scoring was Brock who averaged 11.7 points per game and in assists with 75. He ranked in the top 25 in the CACC in scoring 11th in assists, was in the top 15 in free throw three point field goal percentage and was 10th in assist/turnover ratio.
Junior captain Will Carty was the other Charger averaging in double figures with 10.8 points per contest. He was ranked in the top 30 in the CACC in scoring and eighth in steals, in which he led the team with 50.
Senior Shelton Gibbs averaged 7.6 ppg and was third on the team in rebounding. He finished second on the team in steals and was ranked 10th in the CACC in steals.
With the loss of only one senior, Gibbs, the
team will return a strong nucleus of upper classmen for the 2008-09
season. Head Coach Joe Clinton has a number
of talented freshman coming in for next year which will add depth
and increased scoring ability to the team and looks forward to
winning a CACC Championship next year.
