Orangeburg, NY (2/23/10) The Dominican College men's basketball team revenged a loss earlier in the season to Nyack College by defeating them, 73-65, this evening on Senior Night at the Hennessy Center.

Over the first six minutes of action DC held an 18-4 lead and extended their lead to 34-17 with 6:26 to go before the break. Nyack was able to get no closer than a 13-point deficit in the first half and the Chargers held a 43-28 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, the Warriors fought back from a 49-32 deficit to cut the Charger lead to 49-44 with just over ten and a half minutes remaining in the game. With Nyack trailing 62-58 with just over a minute to play, Dominican rebuilt a seven point lead after going 3-6 from the charity stripe. NC would cut the lead to five points once again, but forced to foul DC closed out the game shooting 8-10 from the free throw line to seal the 73-65 victory.
Nyack was led by sophomore Matt Morgan (White Plains, NY) who netted 19 points and seven rebounds. Andrew Williams (St. Louis, MO) scored 16 points and recorded a team leading three steals, while James Oyamo (Nairobi, Kenya) tallied 12 points.
Freshman guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) led three Charger players in double-figures with 27 points. Junior center Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) had the game's only double-double with 24 points and 10 boards, while recording a career high eight blocks. Senior forward Brendan McManus (Pearl River, NY) added 11 points and eight rebounds in the victory.
Before the game the Chargers honored seniors McManus, Marquis Reddick (Trumbell, CT), Zach Huston (Binghamton, NY) and manager Mike Coffey. Hozdic was also honored as the 2010 recipient of the Bobby Mulligan Memorial Scholarship.
Dominican improves to 13-15 overall and 9-8 in the CACC, while Nyack falls to 13-15 overall and 8-9 in the CACC.
DC returns to action on Saturday as they wrap up regular season play with a road game at Goldey-Beacom College. Game time is set for 3pm.
