MEN'S BASKETBALL LOSE TO BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE IN FINALE OF ALASKA INVITATIONAL

The Chargers held a nine point lead (25-16) with 6:03 remaining in the first half when the Deacons put together a 13-4 run to tie the game at 29-29 with just under three minutes remaining before the break. DC closed out the first half with a 9-6 advantage to take a 38-36 lead.
In the second half, Dominican held an early 46-42 lead when Bloomfield rallied with a 16-3 run to take a 58-49 lead with 10:39 to go in the game. The Deacons led 80-74 with under a minute to go in regulation when DC went on a 6-1 tear to cut the lead to 81-80 with 0:22 seconds to go. Forced to foul Bloomfield went 4-4 in the remaining time from the charity stripe to seal the 85-80 victory.
Freshman point guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) led Dominican with 20 points, a game leading nine assists and five rebounds in the loss. Center Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) had a career high 16 points and grabbed a team leading eight rebounds, shooting 8-10 from the floor. Freshman Preston Smith (Mays Landing, NJ) and junior Jamell Cromartie (White Plains, NY) each had 11 points off the bench for DC.
With the loss Dominican falls to 1-2 on the year.
Dominican is back in action on December 2nd when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play against Caldwell College. Game time is set for 8pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center in the home opener for the Chargers.
