CHARGERS BASKETBALL FALL TO MOLLOY; NYACK DEFEATS NYIT AT DC TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT
Orangeburg, NY (12/5/09) The Molloy College Lions survived a late second half rally to defeat host Dominican College and Nyack College defeated New York Institute of Technology on the final day of the 2009 DC Tip-Off Tournament being held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

In the first game, the Warriors pulled out a 58-57 victory over the Bears behind 21 points off the bench from guard Jose Lopez (Medford, NY). Junior Jerrell Walker (Stockton, CA) led the Bears with 18 points and eight caroms off the bench.
The second contest saw the Lions' offense explode with a 24-7 run to start the game en route to a 35-8 lead with 3:15 left before the intermission and cruised into halftime with a 37-15 lead.
Dominican trailed 44-21 early in the second half but a 11-0 run by the Chargers spanning 2:13 seconds cut the deficit to four points (53-49) with just over seven minutes remaining. That would be as close as DC would get as Molloy closed out the game with the 68-59 victory.
Brian Hutchinson (Elmont, NY) and Carl Palmer (Brooklyn, NY) led the Lions with 15 points each, with Hutchinson adding a game leading 13 rebounds in the victory. Edward Freeman (Washington, DC) netted 13 points, while Girard Fitts (Uniondale, NY) and Harley Fuller (Gloversville, NY) combined for 21 points and 14 rebounds.
The Chargers were led by senior Zach Huston (Binghamton, NY) and freshman Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) who each scored 18 points in the loss.
With the victory Molloy improves to 3-4 overall, while Dominican falls to 3-3.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Post University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. Game time is slated for 8pm in Waterbury, CT.
