SECOND HALF BURST LEADS ADELPHI OVER CHARGERS
Caldwell, NJ (12/20/09) Trailing by a point at the break, the Adelphi University men's basketball team opened up the second half with an 11-2 run and never looked back en route to a 57-38 victory over the Dominican College Chargers this afternoon at the ECAC Holiday Classic hosted by Caldwell College.

Dominican trailed 13-5 with 9:24 remaining in the first half when they went on a 14-1 tear to take a 19-14 lead. Junior Jamell Cromartie (White Plains, NY) completed a huge four-point play during the run as he hit a three point basket and converted the free throw. Sophomore Mike Calzonetti (Gloucester, NJ) and senior Zach Huston (Binghamton, NY) each completed three point plays during the run.
The Panthers cut the deficit to a point late in the first half, but a layup from freshman center Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) regained a three point DC lead and they went into the intermission with a 21-20 lead.
The Panthers started off the second half with an 11-3 spurt to take an 31-24 lead and never looked back as they dominated the second stanza en route to the 57-38 win.
Quimby and Cromartie led the Chargers with eight points a piece in the loss with Quimby adding a game leading eight rebounds. Freshman guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) added seven points and four caroms.
With the loss Dominican falls to 5-5 on the season.
DC is back in action on December 28th and 29th in the Pace University Holiday Classic. The Chargers will take on Saint Michael's College on the 28th at 4pm and will face the host on the 29th at 8:00 pm.
