Defending National Champions NYIT Defeat Dominican Chargers, 21-2
Blauvelt, NY (3/5/06) The NCAA Division II defending National Champions, New York Institute of Technology, improved their record to 4-0 with a 21-2 victory over the Dominican College Chargers today at SUNY-Maritime.
Both Chargers goals were scored by Owen Smith III (Upper Saddle River, NJ) in the first period. Smith scored the first goal of the game with 10:03 remaining in the first period. After two quick NYIT goals, Smith netted another goall off the assist by Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) to tie the game at 2-2 with 3:42 left in the first period.
From there on the game was dominated by the Bears, led by Keith Henderson who finished the game with four goals. Joe Droge and Brett Teitjen added three goals a piece in the win.
The Chargers are back in action on Friday March 10th, when they take on Mars Hills College in North Carolina. Game time is 4pm.
