SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY LACROSSE TEAM FALLS 11-8 TO DOMINICAN COLLEGE

Saint Leo, Fla. (3/20/08)  The Saint Leo University lacrosse team (5-4) fell 11-8 to visiting Dominican College (3-2) on Thursday night at University Field.

Ryan Pomponio (Garden City, NY) scored three goals in the loss, while Kyle Marceau (Concord, NH) continued his hot offensive streak with two goals and two assists for the Lions.

Dominican raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Lion responded by scoring the next three foals to take a 3-2 lead early in the second quarter.  The visiting Chargers again jumped in front, as they scored the next three goals to open up a 5-3 advantage.  Saint Leo made it a one-goal contest at half-time, as Nick Bova (Eureka, Mo.) scored with just one-second left in the first half.

The visitors took over after the break, outscoring Saint Leo 3-1 in the third quarter and taking an 8-5 lead.  The Lions closed to within one goal with 9:39 left in the contest, but Dominican scored twice in a span of 1:01 to wrap up the win.

Sophomore attacker Pat O'Shea (Dix Hills, NY) led the Chargers with three goals.  Kris Hayes (Riverhead, NY) and Alex Jones (St. Albert, AB) each netted two goals, while four other Chargers scored a goal in the win.

The Chargers are back in action on March 29th when they host Mercyhurst College.
