Last-Minute Goal Lifts Chargers Over Felician, 1-0

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – A goal in the 90th and final minute of regulation lifted Dominican (N.Y.) College over host Felician College, 1-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men’s soccer action on Tuesday night at Tryon Field. The match was the league opener for both schools.

Clancy Scores Game-Winner For No. 11 Dominican

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - A goal in the 90th and final minute of regulation lifted Dominican (N.Y.) College over host Felician College, 1-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night at Tryon Field. The match was the league opener for both schools.

With the clock winding down, Dominican goalkeeper Robert Kelly (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) launched a long goal kick that flew over the initial wave of players, landed, and skipped along the rain-soaked artificial turf. Ryan Clancy (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) ran onto the ball, dribbled toward the goal, and hit a low shot to the keeper's right and into the net at 89:24. Kelly was credited with an assist on the play.

Felician netminder Paulo DosSantos (Toronto, Canada/Sir Oliver Mowat) made four saves, including three on shots from inside the box in the first half. The closest the Golden Falcons (0-4, 0-1) came to scoring was when Piotr Snihur (Bawa, Poland/Winchendon) hit the crossbar in the 65th minute. Kelly made four saves to earn the shutout.

Dominican (1-2-1, 1-0) is ranked No. 11 in the Division II national preseason coaches' poll.
