Springfield, MA (9/2/07) Despite a hard-fought 12 save performance from senior goalie Mathew Marcoux (Blackstone, Mass.), the American International College men's soccer squad fell 3-0 at the hands of the visiting Chargers of Dominican College Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match-up. The win propels the Chargers to 2-0-3 on the season while the loss drops AIC to 1-1-1 overall.

Jhonny Arteaga (Stamford, CT) notched two goals on the afternoon for Dominican. The first score came just after the 26 minute mark in the first-stanza. Arteaga took a shot directly off of a corner kick from teammate Ryan Clancy (Pine Bush, NY) and placed it perfectly by the extended hands of Marcoux. His goal would be the only score of the first-half.

Arteaga would add his second goal of the game off of the opening kick-off just 30 ticks into the second-half. After sprinting downfield, he received a touch pass, dribbled it around until he had a clearing and shot a ball that struck the back of the net and made the score 2-0.

With the game almost in hand, the Chargers would add one more score with under a minute to play in regulation when Joe Wright (Stratford-Upon-Avon, NY) turned a one-on-one with the goalie into Dominican's third and final goal of the contest. Chargers goalie Robert Kelly (Kearny, NJ) knocked away 12 shots in net.

In earlier action Merrimack used goals from Tohelo Gugushe and Greg Motta to cruise to a 2-0 victory over Felician College.

The Chargers are back in action on next Saturday when they host the Wilmington College Wildcats in the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game of the year.
