CHARGERS SOCCER TIE SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE, 1-1
Blauvelt, NY (9/25/07) The Chargers soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Southern Connecticut State University in a non-conference soccer game held at Jess Dow Field.
Dominican got on the board at 70:32 when senior Jhonny Arteaga (Stamford, CT) put the ball in the goal after the Owls keeper and a defender collided inside the six yard line which allowed Arteaga to put it in the net.
The Owls tied the game at 1-1 when Ancil Farrier converted a penalty kick at 78:22.
DC keeper Robert Kelly (Kearny, NJ) had eight saves, while Brendan Lawless had five saves.
Southern Connecticut State edged Dominican in shots, 19-18.
With the tie Dominican now stands at 5-1-5 overall, while Southern Connecticut State are now 5-2-3.
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Post University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game scheduled to begin at 2pm.
